Nathalie Kelley was born in Perú. Her mother is Peruvian and her father is from Argentina. She moved to Sydney, Australia, and dreamed about being an actress when she was 13 years old. She attended North Sydney Girls High School on Sydney’s north shore, coincidentally the same school as Nicole Kidman. When she was 16 she became a salsa dancer, which helped her get the money to finish education. The "Miss Latin America competition" also earned her a much-needed $1,000, before she took a year off and went to Brazil. The things Kelley saw there prompted her to shun show business and come home to launch herself into a social science degree at the University of New South Wales. She volunteered with Indigenous Australian youth in the inner-city suburb of Redfern before moving to Los Angeles and eventually becoming a film actress.

Sophie Marceau played the age of 13 years in the teen comedy La Boum (1980), which they over-night for youth idol in France and many other European countries did. The sequel La Boum 2 (1982) further increased its popularity. For this role, she received 1983 restricting French César Award in the category "Best Young Actress." At the age of 18 Sophie Marceau played together with Gérard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve their first demanding role in Fort Saganne (1984). In the same year she also turned together with Jean-Paul Belmondo comedy Joyeuses Pâques (enlisch: Happy Easter).
Won the international breakthrough with the role Marceau as Princess Isabelle in Mel Gibson Schottenepos Braveheart (1995). On this success was followed by A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1999) and the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough (1999), in which she plays Elektra King.
