Google vs the World… next up for destruction: Skype

U.S. based Gmail users will now be able to place and receive phone calls directly from the Gmail interface. Calls placed to U.S. and Canadian-based numbers are free, and if you need to make international calls, the rates are extremely cheap. It was fun while it lasted Skype. Google has some deep pockets, and although Skype is well entrenched, Google will take a big bite out of Skype revenues in the near future.

Our First 7” Android Tablet is Now in Hand. First Impressions – Look out Kindle

We just got our hands on the Augen Gentouch 7” Android tablet today. A full review will follow after we spend the weekend playing. The first thing we did was to install the Kindle android app and this little 7” form factor is a better experience than the Kindle so far. How does it stack up against an iPad? We will let you know after a few days testing, but on first impressions, at 1/4 the price and running Kindle, Google maps, and as a twitter client, it is off to a great start.
