Movie Pick: Dinner for Schmucks

imageDinner for Schmucks

This week’s pick in the wide releases is Dinner for Schmucks.

EN 5 Second Review: Absolutely tasteless, absolutely fabulous. Dinner for Schmucks is pure tasteless slapstick and we love it. Carell is at the top of his game.

"Dinner for Schmucks" tells the story of Tim (Paul Rudd), a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss’ annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Steve Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art. From Jay Roach, director of "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" comes an unforgettable feast about two unlikely friends and one very memorable dinner.

Charlie St. Cloud

Charlie St. Cloud

Based on an acclaimed novel, "Charlie St. Cloud" is a romantic drama starring Zac Efron as a young man who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. In this emotionally charged story, he begins a romantic journey in which he embraces the dark realities of the past while discovering the transformative power of love.
Accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) has the adoration of mother Claire (OscarĀ® winner Kim Basinger) and little brother Sam (newcomer Charlie Tahan), as well as a college scholarship that will lead him far from his sleepy Pacific Northwest hometown. But his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it.
After his high-school classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home unexpectedly, Charlie grows torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love. And as he finds the courage to let go of the past for good, Charlie discovers the soul most worth saving is his own.

EN 5 Second Review: As much as we hate to say it, Zac Efron is not the problem with this movie, he actually does a quite good job. The problem is this sappy fantasy plays like a lifetime movie, not a theater movie. If Zac had not signed on no chance this movie makes it to theaters, lets hope he gets better material to work with in his next outing as he has the chops for it.

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

image In the age-old battle between cats and dogs, one crazed feline has taken things a paw too far. Kitty Galore, formerly an agent for cat spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue and hatched a diabolical plan to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post. Faced with this unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to join forces for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves – and their humans – in "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," a comedy that blends live action with state-of-the-art puppetry and computer animation. It’s time for the fur to fly.

EN 5 Second Review: . Amazingly entertaining for the under 8 crowd, anyone over 8 years old will find this movie horrendous and you will leave the theater dumber than when you entered. We implore you to turn away from the screen if you must take a group of children.

Friday Hottie: Kay Perry

Katy Perry certainly has two really big things going for her, let us just say that we are not totally convinced that those are her talent and personality, but as the pictures below and after the jump show, the two things she has going for her are nonetheless quite nice in their own rights.
